    • Examples:
      • A foundation/ donor who created many endowed chairs, enabling UC to retain productive and effective professors. The metrics would be the value in recruitment and retention packages that enable UC to compete with other universities that would pay more for top talent, the increase in departmental prestige, etc.
      • A family office donor whose gifts enabled a UC campus or a UC-affiliated National Laboratory to establish new incubator programs in the I&E space, which resulted in enhanced programs that coach entrepreneurs and help startups obtain funding.
      • A donor whose gifts provide proof-of-concept funds to help with the translation of laboratory research into useful products and services for societal benefit.
