Presidential Search

The University of California Board of Regents announces a nationwide search to recruit the 21st president of the University. President Janet Napolitano announced that she is stepping down at the end of the academic year. 

Per Regents Policy 7101: Policy on Appointment of the President of the University, the Chair of the Board of Regents has appointed a Special Committee to consider candidates and to recommend to the Board the appointment of a President of the University.

Presidential Search Process

The Special Committee will select a firm to assist in the confidential search process. Various constituent groups of the University will be consulted in order to review the relevacy of the criteria for the position. Constituent groups include the Academic Advisory Committee, UC Chancellors, Laboratory Directors, Vice Presidents, students, staff, and alumni. Regents Policy 7101 has additional information regarding the appointment process.
